IT’S OFFICIAL…BUT NOT WITHOUT A LOT OF DELAYS!!!

We get a call at 10:25 on Thursday while I’m toweling off from my shower, and Daniel is saying “well that is great news”. I had to ask what is great news? he answers “the judge decided he has free time after Isabelle adoption and we are being picked up at 10:45 and court will be at 11:00 instead of 3:00pm…OK RUN!!!! (we gladly go to court early thinking we will get our son hopefully after). Court was scary and I cried again while being asked questions. Talk about being a nervous wreck, Daniel did very well and all I had to say is “I support the adoption application and I love my son and husband very much!!!!” We left the room and waited for the judge’s decision, 10 minutes of nail biting. He calls us back in and renders his final decision. “I have decided in your favor…YOU ARE OFFICIALLY OLIVIER KEANU RENAT LAURIN’S PARENTS”, then he wished us a lot of luck and congratulations!

Now the fun stuff, we thought it would be as simple as going to pick up our babies, but NNNOOOOO! We did a lot of parking, waiting and driving (errors in the file, photocopier broke down, ect) to not pick up our children or to get any other process started. We entered our apartment exhausted from just sitting in a car for about 5 hours, we did manage to buy an umbrella stroller for Oli-k. So Friday we shall start this whole driving around and picking up our babies again.

Friday morning, usual pick-up time 9:30. Elvira has already done some of the running around without us. We pick up Isabelle and go to the registers office to drop off some papers, then we go to Oral to pick up some more food, then to the baby house #1 to pick up our babies, to say goodbye and drop off gifts. We finished that around 11:45. Elvira tells us she will pick us up again after at 2:30 to go back to the registers office to sign some papers (that they finally finished), then to the notary again and then to the passport office to start the process. Seems pretty simple except for with our new son, that is off his schedule, hasn’t eaten much and is fed up of being in a car in the same position = mad baby!!! To make matters worse, as of the new year the passport office has specific days and hours for expediting passports… needless to say, we have to go back on Tuesday only, that right there has delayed our return home by 5 days!!!!!

Anyways we are together and that is what counts. We finally got him to sleep at 8 pm after his bottle and bath, (hates his bath)…and we are pooped! Our first day as parents and I have to admit it is tuff!!! I’m off to bed and for those of you that wanted a picture…here it comes!!!
